Jason Martinsen

Jason's career began in 2002. Since then, he has earned the respect of his peers as a lead and senior animator working on some of the industry's top grossing films and games.

Jason studied classical animation at Sheridan College in Ontario Canada. His student film, Mt. Ehn, won the Teletoon: Most Promising Student award. In 2002, Jason began his professional career at Naughty Dog Studios in California, animating the hit game series, Jak & Daxter, and later Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 3.

Los Angeles was followed by a move east to New York, to work on feature films for Blue Sky Studios, where projects included Ice Age II, Horton Hears a Who, Ice Age III and Rio. Jason has combined his career with his desire to travel. He has lived in Madrid working on Planet 51 for Ilion Animation Studios. In London he worked on Iron Man and Paul for Double Negative, in Melbourne, he woked on After Earth for Iloura Studios.

In 2012, Vancouver BC became his home. At the Coalition Jason worked on Gears of War, and while at Sony Pictures Animation, his projects included Hotel Transylvania 1 and 2, Cloudy 2, Storks, and finally, Emoji the movie. Once again he returned to New York and Blue Sky Studios for the new Ferdinand movie. At present, Jason is with Moon Studios and is enjoying collaborating on their newest game, Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

Throughout his career, Jason has been sharing his passion for animation with his students at Animation Mentor and with his Master Class apprentices.
